![]() Historic Vienna |
Austria’s captivating capital is a treat for the eyes, the ears and the taste buds! Once at the heart of the mighty Habsburg Empire, Vienna used its wealth to construct lavish palaces, incredibly ornate churches and beautiful gardens. Vast amounts were also spent on some of the world’s most famous artworks, and used to build concert halls fit for the music of great Austrian composers like Mozart, Strauss and Schubert.
If studying on your German course in Vienna gives you an appetite, the city’s eclectic mix of cuisines will certainly satisfy your hunger! The Naschmarkt is a particularly atmospheric place to eat. Typical dishes include ‘palatschinken’ (sweet or savory pancakes), ‘gulasch’ (meat stew) and ‘sachertorte’ (chocolate cake). You can always work off the calories on the slopes of the Hohe Wand-Wiese ski resort, just 30 minutes away from Vienna!
